Compressing an image to WebP is the quickest way to cut page weight: at the same perceived quality, a WebP file is usually 25 to 35% smaller than the JPEG or PNG it replaces. Drop in your images, pick a quality level, and download an archive ready to upload.
Encoding runs on libvips, which streams the image instead of loading all of it into memory: a 60-megapixel panorama goes through without bringing the server down.
PNG transparency is preserved. EXIF metadata is stripped by default — it adds weight to the file and sometimes carries the GPS location of the shot.
